About us

ZATROC is the first school-healthcare company in Iraq.

We started in Najaf with a clear idea: every student is checked regularly by a doctor inside their own school, and every checkup is kept in one health record that parents follow from their phone.

How we started

ZATROC was founded in Najaf by two co-founders: one built the network of schools we work with, the other designed and built the platform. We started from a simple observation: a student's health is usually looked at only when they fall ill, and little of it reaches their parents. So we bring the doctor to the school, and gather every checkup in one record that grows with the student, year after year.

Our mission

To bring regular healthcare to thousands of children in primary schools, employ hundreds of new doctors who cannot find work today, and bring patients back to independent clinics crushed by bigger ones.

How the service works

The doctor

Comes to the school, takes the measurements and vital signs, examines the student, and decides the result: normal, follow-up or referral.

The parent

Gets the summary on their phone, with what to do next if there is a follow-up or a referral.

Jobs for new doctors

Our model rests on newly graduated doctors whom we employ, pay and place inside schools. The doctor gains experience and a steady income; the school gets a doctor without paying a salary.

Where we are

  • An officially registered company in Iraq, fully self-funded (bootstrapped).
  • We work with 3 schools in Najaf today.
  • We are in talks with dozens of clinics to join our program.
  • The platform is in development; the service has not launched yet.
  • The parent, school and admin portals are built through Phase 3.
  • The doctor's offline app is designed, and it is next.
  • We will not launch until every phase is complete.

Our goal: 10 schools across Iraq by mid-2027.

Where we are going

These are plans we are working on, not services available today.

  1. Planned

A large network of partner clinics

Each clinic gets its own portal: it receives referrals, confirms visits, reports outcomes back to the student's record, and manages student discounts. The network brings new patients to independent clinics.

  2. Planned

    The doctor's iPad app

Works inside the school without an internet connection, and syncs checkups once it is back online.

  3. Planned

    The parent app

Results and reminders in an app installed on the phone, with push notifications.

  4. Planned

    School portal and operations console

A portal for the school's administration, and a console where the ZATROC team runs checkups and schedules.

  5. Planned

    From Najaf across Iraq's governorates

We start in Najaf, aim for 10 schools across Iraq by mid-2027, then expand governorate by governorate.

  6. Planned

    Kurdish, native apps and payments

Kurdish language support, native mobile apps, and payments inside the service.

  7. Planned

    Insight for public health

Aggregate, anonymized indicators on school students' health to help health authorities plan. Aggregate figures only; no individual student's data is ever shared.

  8. Planned

Jobs for doctors in every governorate

Hundreds of newly graduated doctors working inside schools in every governorate we reach.
